God has called us into a royal priesthood, meaning we should simultaneously walk like nobility yet serve like clergy. We should be both lions and lambs. Our first example of a priest was set by the King of Kings Himself. In Genesis, He came down and demonstrated how a priest is supposed to serve his constituents. In 1 Peter, He gives another example of a priestly practice – washing at the laver.
We are to rid ourselves of those nasty invisible sins: malice, deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander! We must cleanse our attitudes. We must ensure that what’s coming out of our mouths is pure because the power of life and death is in the tongue!
